How do I tune my Instrument?
You can tune your instrument in a couple of ways - you can buy a tuner that you can leave in your case, BUT the easiest way is to download an app for iOS or Android. There are two apps that we recommend:
1. TonalEnergy Tuner (This one is a paid solution, but very extensive)
3. Tuner - Pitched! (FREE Android)
What is Summer Band Camp?
Summer Band Camp is for High School Band ONLY (9th-12th grades). Generally, Summer Band Camp will take place the last full week of summer before school starts (check out the calendar for exact dates). During this time we'll learn/review marching fundamentals, learn how to march as a group, and begin learning new music for our fall marching show -- remember to stay hydrated!
Summer Band Camp is MANDATORY for all students 9th through 12th grades. A completed physical is required for all students before they can begin marching. See the HS Resources tab for a PDF of the Physical Form.
What should I wear to band events?
Head over to the Dress/Attire page for details about what to wear to all our events!
What should I do if I drop my instrument?
First, you should tell your band director! They can determine whether or not it needs to be sent off for repairs to either Phillips Music or Midwest Music (your instrument insurance status may affect where your instrument is sent -- let us know before we send it off!).
What should I bring with me to class?
Every day you should bring your instrument, music folder, your pencil, and a good attitude! REMEMBER: If you're not early, you're late!
Where do my grades come from in band?
Your grades come from participation in class, concerts, and other band events. For more information on grade breakdowns, head over to review our syllabus on the Bands pages.
